Running your content through a design system streamlines software validation for your working code. Design systems go beyond design tools, like Figma, variables, components, etc. They're about establishing a consistent framework that allows you to test features, layouts, and experiences faster and with a unified look and feel, preventing user confusion.

Does your software team speak the same language? Aligning on what basic UI elements are called is a great starting point. It doesn’t even matter what name your team chooses as long as everyone agrees on it. Names should hint at purpose. #productdesign #designsystems

The current landscape of AI-powered design tools faces several critical challenges that limit their effectiveness and adoption. In terms of information architecture and component systems, these tools struggle with fundamental structural issues. The inconsistency in component hierarchies makes it difficult to maintain a coherent design system, while limited scalability hampers the tools' ability to grow with project needs. The poor reusability of components across projects and inefficient management of design assets further compound these architectural challenges. When it comes to business process integration, AI tools often fall short in handling industry-specific requirements. They have difficulty adapting to specialized workflows in sectors like fintech or retail, and struggle to implement custom interaction patterns that businesses require. The tools also show limitations in processing complex business rules and meeting contextual requirements that vary across different use cases. Brand integration presents another significant hurdle. Many AI tools demonstrate weakness in implementing consistent visual identities and maintaining proper visual hierarchies. This often results in increased cognitive load for users and inconsistent experiences across different channels. The challenge of maintaining brand coherence becomes particularly apparent when scaling across multiple touchpoints. The translation of requirements into effective design solutions remains problematic. Current tools often produce suboptimal results due to limitations in prompt engineering capabilities. They struggle to seamlessly integrate information architecture, business logic, and brand elements into cohesive designs. This frequently leads to a misalignment between AI-generated solutions and actual business objectives. These foundational gaps have significant implications for the overall effectiveness of AI design tools. Organizations often encounter counterproductive results that require substantial rework, leading to resource inefficiencies. The tools frequently produce designs that don't appropriately fit their intended context, ultimately limiting their business value. Temporary setback to #ai aided #ux over #figma by inexperienced #ai prompter. Pretty confident that as the #genai matures UX prototypes from prompts will get better. But I'm also confident that UX #designers will still be needed to understand what to tweak for best productivity and intuitive experience. I've been in organizations with zero #ux personnel where each application is a standalone monstrosity over the next customer experience as each was a different under budget #IT vendor. #Programmers and #business users enhancing over it just made the overal customer experience worst. Non #ux #practitioners with no experience at #prompting will find it difficult to describe what the #ai should generate. A simple example is in #midjourney, casual #photographers with exposure to #art has a leg up in detailing #lighting conditions, #focus and stylistic preferences compared with someone with none. The prompt was also too generic, as evident in either prompt inexperience or knowledge of how to find faults with #genai. So, with the current early #iteration the results can turn up like a pure copy. BUT the output is in #figma objects to be modified - which is a massive productivity boost! But again, I'm confident it'll only get better. that I'm sure. Bring back the feature asap!

For all #productdesigners, I've found working on a design project with my portfolio case studies in mind is a valuable practice, here's why: It's encouragement to: - Focus on the outcome - Organize files so they're presentation-ready - Document work - Start with metrics in mind - A push to do the best work - Think about the coded product, not just the design work - Think about 'future me' - encouraging real-time perspective taking It helps to have a framework and reminder not just to stay engaged, but to push myself even if I'm having an off day or week. Hey #UX Community, I’m reaching out to get your thoughts on a critical issue seen in the design world > deceptive patterns in digital design. It’s a topic that strikes at the heart of ethical UX and Business practice, and I’m curious about your perspectives. Imagine this scenario: A business asks you to use deceptive patterns in your user flows and UI. As a UX designer, you know that these tactics can mislead users, erode trust and even bring down UX to extreme levels. You see it as your duty to educate the business and advocate for ethical design practices. But what if the stakeholders are insistent, telling you, “This is how we’re doing it, and you need to follow through”? So, what are the options as a designer to follow? 1) Just do it and move on: The job market can be tough, and sometimes it might seem easier to comply, even if it means compromising your values? 2) Try one more time to educate, then comply if necessary: You’ve made your case and offered your insights. If they still push for dark patterns, do you just accept it as their decision and move forward? It's their Karma and not yours to worry about? 3) Start looking for a job that aligns with your principles: If the company insists on using deceptive practices, might it be time to seek out an employer who shares your commitment to some values and principles? 4) Propose alternatives and seek a compromise: What could be other strategies or steps?
